“Green Arrow” (Ep# 401)
MY NAME IS THE GREEN ARROW — Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) blissful getaway is cut short when Thea (Willa Holland) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) pay them a visit and tell Oliver they need his help back in Star City. The city has been attacked by “Ghosts,” assassins led by a dangerous man named Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough). However, when Oliver returns, Diggle (David Ramsey) makes it very clear that he doesn’t want Oliver on the team. Thor Freudenthal directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Beth Schwartz and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Wendy Mericle (#401).

Our Fall TV preview extravaganza was just a small taste of the Arrow intel we’ve collected.
Like Oliver, we aimed higher and are bringing you even more scoop from showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle about the ex-vigilante’s “bumpy” attempts to get back in Dig’s good graces, Laurel’s struggle to fit in on the team and much more.
Love is in the air for Oliver and Felicity as well as many of the show’s other crimefighters, but at least one person won’t be getting romanced in Season 4, Mericle reveals in our character-by-character spoiler guide.
The EP also shares what some recurring fan faves will be up to when The CW series returns on Wednesday, Oct. 7, while Guggenheim previews new enemy Damien Darhk’s badass qualities.
THEA
Ollie’s sis has a new love interest, and the show fully intends to tap into his portrayer Parker Young’s skills as a comedic performer on Suburgatory and Enlisted. “It’s still going to be dark and gritty, but he’s one of those places [where] we’re bringing [humor] in,” Mericle says, adding that Thea “is going to have the challenge that Oliver had in the first season of, she’s now a superhero and she wants to have a normal life. She’s got this guy. How does she balance both of those things?”(source)
After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe? Arrow Season 4 premieres Wednesday October 7th on The CW!
Speedy (Willa Holland)
“Who knew Thea Queen could sew?” jokes Mani (who also created Brandon Routh’s Atom costume and is working on the upcoming spinoff DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). “The idea was that she took Roy’s [Arsenal] costume and reconfigured it, so that’s what I did.” That meant adding a more feminine touch tailored to the petite Holland while maintaining the leather, the shoulder details, and a similar hood. “I like to approach the design of a costume by looking at the iconic lines of the characters,” offers Mani. “They have huge fanbases, and it’s out of respect to those fans that I would put in those details.” Fun fact: In keeping with the Queen family’s apparent footwear of choice, Speedy’s boots are also souped-up Nike Frees.
