Arrow: Willa Holland Says Speedy Will Suit Up Again Soon

After season 4 of Arrow saw Oliver Queen and company suffer a horrible loss at the hands of Damien Darhk, the series’ fifth season has changed the team dynamic. While John Diggle recently rejoined the team – after a brief stint in military prison – Oliver’s sister, Thea (played by Willa Holland), has moved away from life as a vigilante. In her place, Oliver has been training a new set of recruits including Wild Dog (played by Rick Gonzalez), Ragman (played by Joe Dinicol), Artemis (played by Madison McLaughlin), and Mister Terrific (played by Echo Kellum).

With no shortage of vigilantes in Star City, Thea has spent most of this season operating as Oliver Queen’s chief of staff, also helping former police captain, and struggling alcoholic, Quentin Lance deal with his grief over the loss of Laurel. While Thea’s new role has helped push the show in a fresh new direction, some fans are wondering whether we have seen the last of her crime fighting days as Speedy.

Willa Holland spoke with fans at this weekend’s Heroes & Villains Fan Fest where she was asked whether she would be donning the red costume sometime soon. “Yeah, I definitely do! I miss that leather outfit a lot,” Holland said. “I miss being in the Arrowcave. I miss shooting on set all the time!” Holland will next be seen in the red Speedy outfit during the massive ‘Invasion’ crossover, which just happens to occur simultaneously with Arrow‘s milestone 100th episode.

Arrow “5.02 – The Recruits” Stills + Promo

SUIT UP — Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) new recruits for Team Arrow are Curtis (Echo Kellum), Wild Dog (guest star Rick Gonzalez) and Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin). Unfortunately, the Green Arrow’s training methods prove to be too much for some of them to handle. Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Oliver’s initiation into the Bratva continues.

(Video) Arrow: Thea makes date plans in exclusive season 4 deleted scene

Thea (Willa Holland) isn’t letting the annoying paparazzi, her blood lust, or a recent tragedy stop her from finding love in an exclusive deleted scene from the Arrow season 4 DVD collection.

In this clip from the episode “Blood Debts,” Thea is hounded by the paparazzi as she’s leaving the hospital where Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is undergoing surgery for her crippling gun shot wound. Thankfully, Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) campaign manager Alex (Parker Young), worried she might actually kill them, arrives in time to pull from her from the fray. “There’s a whole crowd of people bothering you and you didn’t almost kill any of them. Wanna go back? I mean the hospital is right there. We can get everyone stitched up real quick,” Alex asks Thea.

However, Thea is happy to inform him that she hasn’t felt the urge to kill anyone for some time. Now that she’s feeling better, Thea asks Alex if he would like to go on another dat e— this time without her drop-kicking someone. Obviously, he says yes. (It’s hard not to be filled with dread knowing the twisted turn their relationship takes).

Arrow “5.01 – Legacy” Stills

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. Oliver returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), former police captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum). Newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City.

With Diggle back in the military and Thea adamant about hanging up her hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity – but they’re no longer the only vigilantes in town. Green Arrow’s public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles, rather than allies, in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.
