Look out Roy Harper, Thea Queen has her eyes on a new man.
The Carrie Diaries alum Austin Butler has joined the third season of The CW’s Arrow in a recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He first appears in the seventh episode.
Butler will play Chase, a charismatic DJ whose talent and wiles catch the attention of Thea (Willa Holland). Their professional relationship will quickly blossom into a romance.
At the end of season two, Thea ended her tumultuous romance with Roy, teaming up with her biological father, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman). “Thea is going through something pretty crazy,” Holland hinted at Comic-Con. “All I can say is I’ve been hitting the gym a little bit.”
Butler is the latest addition in an Arrow guest cast that includes Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable), the Atom/Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Wildcat/Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez), Felicity’s mother (Charlotte Ross), Maseo (Karl Yune), Katana (Rila Fukushima), a new Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare), Felicity’s college ex (Nolan Funk) and Mark Shaw/Manhunter (David Cubitt).
Arrow returns Oct. 8 on The CW.
