Level 33 Entertainment has set the release date for “Blood in the Water,” a thriller starring Willa Holland, Alex Russell and Miguel Gomez, Variety has learned exclusively. The film will be released on Aug. 26. Level 33 acquired the film, formerly known as “Pacific Standard Time,” in a deal struck with Taylor & Dodge, which is handling worldwide sales on the film.
The film is directed by Ben Cummings and Orson Cummings from their own script and produced by Mitchell Sandler and Mitch Solomon. A premiere and filmmaker Q&A will take place at Arena Cinema Hollywood on Aug. 26.
The film will open in select theaters and be available day and date on demand on Time Warner Cable, Comcast, iTunes, DirecTV, Amazon Instant, Dish Network, Vubiquity, Vudu and others.
Holland and Russell play a couple in their twenties who are housesitting for the summer at a palatial modern spread in the Hollywood. Living above their means, the young lovers quickly find themselves in over their heads when an unwanted visitor from their college days spoils their illusion of paradise and they become caught up in a love triangle that goes terribly wrong.
“I grew up loving L.A. set thrillers from classics such as ‘Double Indemnity’ and ‘Sunset Boulevard’ to films like ‘To Live And Die In L.A.,’ and I always wanted to produce something that was very here and now but still paid homage to that genre,” Sandler said.
Holland stars in The CW’s “Arrow” and Gomez stars in FX’s “The Strain.” Russell’s credits include “Unbroken” and “Chronicle.”

Yesterday was a very special day at Comic Con International (also known as San Diego Comic Con) as Superheroes and villains took over the convention, Arrow being one of DC’s CW shows to attend the convention. Joining Stephen Amell, Echo Kellum, Emily Bett Rickards, John Barrowman and Paul Blackthorne, Willa and the cast were at the convention to promote the fifth season of the show. I have added to the gallery all photos released so far from the convention. I’d like to thank my friend Steph for the big help on the high quality pictures. I’ve gathered all information released during the Press Line and the Q&A about the upcoming season (and some Willa facts), which you will find down bellow along with a radio interview the cast did for SiriusXM Radio, plus under the cut you’ll find all videos so far released from the convention!
- Thea has been picking up Oliver’s mayoral slack apparently when season 5 starts.
- Willa loves burgers.
- “Who would they play?” Willa would play Batman.
- Willa said Thea left Star City to really focus on herself, something she needs.
